The Dolphin Girls

"If man keeps destroying all that he needs
He may soon have to pay with his life for his greed"

The Dolphin Girls are: Cathy and Debi Franconi

Cathy and Debi Franconi have a mission and are following a quest - to spread the word regarding the plight that our marine mammals find themselves in due to man and his ways. Pollution of the oceans, the various types of nets used today and aquariums, are just some of the dangers that our friends have to face. Things that man, the so called superior creature on the earth, have created and put in the way of what nature intended.

All sea mammals should free to roam unpolluted waters whenever and where ever they like.

Dolphins are small whales and belong to the order of Cetacea. They are mammals and not fish. They are warm blooded and mothers feed their young on milk and nurse then for about 15 months. They are air breathing with a single nostril called a blowhole on top of their heads. Dolphins can swin upto 40 km per hour and navigate under water via an echo location system or 'sonar'.

Calves are born after about a 10 month gestation period. Females only reach breeding maturity at the age of about 5 and only have one calf at a time.

"Perhaps the time has come to formulate a moral code which would govern our relations with the great cetaceans of the sea as well as with those of the land. - If humans are going to invade the waters of the earth, then let it be first of all to carry a message of respect, - a respect for all life" - Jaqcues Cousteau.
